Since 2020, Drive Copy is part of the Hard Disk Manager functionality.
Below, choose the version that suits your needs:
- Hard Disk Manager Advanced is designed for personal home use;
- Hard Disk Manager for Business is intended for enterprise commercial use.
Next, launch SuperDuper, and set it to clone your Mac's hard drive to the SSD. If you gave it a new name in Disk Utility, it'll show up as such. Then choose Backup All Files, and click Copy Now. Choose an SSD for your Mac Mini. These SSD drives are a standard 2.5 inch SATA drive, compatible with the 2005 to 2012 Mac Mini range. The 2014 model also had a SATA option, please see our notes on upgrading.
Install
- Once the SSD is connected via a USB lead, use Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable backup of your drive on the SSD. This way you can install the SSD and start using your mac again straight away.
- To upgrade Mac Mini to SSD, you will need a New SSD Drive, TR6 and T8 Screw drivers, Logic Board Removal Tools and Spudger. To upgrade MacBook Pro to SSD, you will be needing a New SSD Drive, P5 Pentalobe Screwdriver, T5 Torx Screwdriver and Spudger.
- Backing up your Mac is always a good idea before opening it up, but all you'll need to do after the SSD installation is run Disk Utility and format the new drive, then transfer files over as you.
Connect a new storage device to your computer, then download and install Hard Disk Manager for Windows

While the primary purpose of the software is to move your OS from a mechanical hard drive to an SSD, it should just as easily be able to migrate bootable system partitions between two SSDs of different sizes (or hard drives for that matter). That's why Migrate OS to SSD continues to be our software of choice for this task.
